    Saved!
I finally got around to playing Conquest this week, and I have to say that the writing is a huge step down from Awakening. I'm only a few hours in, and the game has already had someone explain the protagonist's personality to the protagonist, had the protagonist be shocked that her father is doing evil things even though he's never shown doing anything but evil things, treated the assassination of a character you just found out existed and who said maybe 4 lines to you is moving and tragic, had you suddenly turn into a dragon when that happened for some reason, had the protagonist's father accuse the protagonist of treason after she clearly rejected and fought against her birth family in order to return to said father, and then the father punishing her for her disloyalty by sending her on a difficult mission she would only go on if she were in fact loyal to him. Like these are simple, basic fuck ups that shouldn't even be in a first draft, let alone a published game. And the sad thing is that the team listened to criticism of their last game's story and sought to rectify it by hiring an outside writer. I have no idea how they thought the script he gave them was at all acceptable. The in house writers weren't amazing, but holy shit were they better than this guy.

Still, the relationship conversations seem decent enough, and it seems to play fine, but I just wish those things weren't attached to such an incompetently told story.
