It's hard to talk about this game without taking it's year of launch into consideration... 1986 predates the release of the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and the major player in home consoles was the NES which didn't even reach it's peak yet. Yet here is OutRun, a racing game that not only is tremendously ahead of everything else available in gameplay, sound and visuals, it also has some kind of stylistic charm that makes it stand out from all other racing games, before and since.
