Editing … I think I found my new PC case: the Node 202, which is just 5 cm wider and 3 cm deeper than my alienware x51 https://www.alternate.de/Fractal-Design/NODE-202-Desktop-Geh%C3%A4use/html/product/1208640?

Editing … For what purpose do you keep looking at these small ITX cases? Because they're not meant for gaming PCs. If you do decide to build one, go big or go home, otherwise it's not even worth the upgrade. Were you planning on transplanting your Alienware innards into the new case? Your Alienware PC does use ITX, yes, but since the I/O plate is part of the case, you'd be left with a big hole in the back of your new case, unless you manage to find an aftermarket I/O plate or cut it out of the Alienware case. I wouldn't be surprised if you'd also run into other issues, as that's often true for mass-produced small-form factor PCs. They're not built to tinker with.

Editing … If you go to Google Images and type in "ITX GTX 1070 PC," you'll find that all of those builds use cube cases and not that slim clearly-meant-for-a-home-theater-PC case of yours.

Editing … so? I want a case that looks like a console, i.e. similar to my alienware x51; the node 202 by fractal design is not just a htpc case btw

Editing … For your purposes, you should probably look into the #Skull Canyon NUC. Slick piece of hardware.

Editing … That thing looks ridiculous and is the opposite of what I want, but thanks anyway. FYI, here's a gtx 1070 node 202 setup that you were so sure of would totally "not gonna work dude": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmASlZQzjb0 Suit yourself, breh

Editing … I know it'll fit, that's not the issue. The reason consoles work is because tons and tons of R&D went into designing everything with that specific hardware in mind, and even then they fuck up (see: Xbox 360). If you're gonna assemble your own PC, it's up to you to make sure your build isn't gonna run into issues later down the line. Again, wouldn't personally put a gaming PC into a case that small, but it's entirely up to you.

Editing … Airflow is also an important thing. You want a case with good airflow. Otherwise you will run into cooling issues. Which results in worse performance / lifetime of your components.
