Out of nowhere, I needed to mention that I really fucking love this game. The graphics are mind blowing for 1997 and I still really like the style and colors of it, very unique. Nothing else will quite look like it. The soundtrack still hits close to home. I remember growing up, this game gave me a more powerful sense of nostalgia than almost anything else, because it's so odd yet also so personal. Moments like SpoilerAeris' Mom telling her story, Barrett's anguish after the plate falls, the date at the Gold Saucer, Tifa's theme playing when you enter 7th Heaven, Aeris' dying, and more all had a big impact on me. There's good bits of humor and odd charm mixed in too, it's not just drama. And as popular as it is, it's such a weird, mysterious game. In a way, I still don't feel like I "get" it. But that's part of the charm.
