I wonder if you guys would indulge me in a poll :P I wish to know if you guys prefer subs or not. I'm pretty much in favour of subs, but if dubs are done well, I won't object.

Editing … Also, the "This isn't Penguin Village" (from #Dr. Slump) joke really got lost in translation. Random weird thingy in a tree says: "This isn't a village of penguins!" and then never appears again. I was so confused as a kid.

Editing … I usually stick with subs unless I hear that a dub is really good for a show, which is preferable in those rare instances so that I can soak up the visuals without having to keep up with the text on the bottom of the screen.

Editing … I've decided to go 100% subs. We're forced to watch subs anyway when a dub isn't available. It's impossible to go 100% dubs so this is just more consistent. Also dubs often times suck. Not to mention anime is Japanese so it makes sense to stick with the native language. I heard the argument once that since the characters are cartoons, they're dubbed anyway (in Japanese) and therefore English dubs are just as legitimate, unlike live action dubs where you can see that their lips don't match the words being spoken. But when I think about this argument may not be a very strong one since animation is created after the voice actors record their lines!

Editing … Now that you have selected subs the only thing left to do is replace subs vs dubs with fansub elitism / start arguing over if one fansub group is better than another one for a particular show. (Crunchyroll are nearly always horrible.)

Editing … I used to be a sub purist, but then I grew up and got over it. While there was a time when the majority of anime dubs were abysmal, that time has mostly passed, there are plenty of anime with good dubs now. Personally, I find that I enjoy watching anime a lot more when I can understand what's being said without having to divide my attention between what's actually happening, and the subs at the bottom of the screen. However, in cases where the dub truly is atrocious, I'll watch the sub.

Editing … I'll watch either really. In junior high it was always dubs but now I just go with whatever feels more natural in the moment or whatever's available. I'm watching Kodocha dubbed cause Digibro said it's one of the only shows he prefers dubbed because Laura Bailey's performance as Sana hits it out of the park. He was totally right!
