I feel like it's the definitive show for someone getting into anime since it presents a serious story with amazing twists while also being extremely entertaining. It also has absolutely no filler despite being over 60 episodes, since its a complete adaptation of the similarly amazing manga.

If you ever want to see one of the most weird things ever made, I recommend Serial Experiments: Lain. Again, only 13 episodes.
