I had a hankering to use my CRT so I plugged in my SNES and started popping in games. I got this game in an auction box lot three or four years ago. It looks gorgeous on the CRT, silky smooth and colors that really pop. I'm actually now in the midst of a full blown playthrough. First real experience with a Zelda game apart from a little bit of one of the GBC ones when I was too little to figure anything out. It actually reminds me a bit of A Short Hike which I know is backwards thinking. But I've been just wandering around talking to random people and they often have funny little quips to say that obviously allude to some future thing. And it's all so chill and forgiving. And I didn't realize there were SNES games that had quality of life things like save anytime and quest markers on a map. Enjoying myself so far and even did a bit of pass the controller with my niece as well. Gonna play a bit more after work tonight.

I clearly remember that I got the 1/4 magic meter somehow, I clearly do. A google research quickly debunks this though as there is no way to obtain a 1/4 magic meter. Apparently many people who played this game in their childhood remember having the 1/4 magic meter even though it doesn't exist. Incredibly weird... I'm thinking about firing up my old SNES again and see if my save files are still on the cartridge and whether I obtained the 1/4 magic meter...

Editing … This is the only actual instruction I could find (within 5 minutes of searching) https://videogamegeek.com/thread/686573/14-magic-meter — jeffrey rutt, Feb 26, 2017: “there was a way, when you freed the bat he goes to dark world and I think he's in the tower in dark world near the end, you lift the block up on the left side I think an throw the statue I believe down it an then Jump down an grab it an leave with it to 5 or take the block back to the original spot you met him an put it in the slot. The last part is hazy for me, I thought you go to 5 for something but maybe it's just take back to the spot an put him in, I know he can take your magic back or even give up to 1/32 I've gotten you can get higher to a certain point as long as you don't keep pestering him. I know it's something like that, it's been what 25 or so years. BUT I KNOW FOR A FACT YOU DO THAT AN GET A BETTER RATIO.”

Editing … Sounds pretty fake to me... but yeah, I remember it, but it was probably just my imagination...

The epic quest to get into a secret room. Lol. I love how ProJared just builds everything up just to disappoint his buddy.

One of the greatest Zelda's ever. Would be higher if I had beat it as a kid...my first play through was only a few years ago. Holds up great though...another Nintendo masterpiece.

Don't like much of anything about it. Give me Oracle of Seasons any day. I wonder how many more tears I can collect tonight...

Just redeemed my Club Nintendo stars for this. I'm probably not gonna be able to play it for a while though because exams are coming up and I have 9001 other games to finish first. Oh well.

It was between this one or Minish Cap. Just pretend it's both.

You can beat "A Link To The Past" in like 5 minutes.
