Rain (stylized as rain) is an upcoming adventure video game in development by SCE Japan Studio for the PlayStation 3 video game console. The game was first revealed at Gamescom and is currently scheduled for release on the PlayStation Network in 2013. The game's protagonist is a nameless young boy who while lost out in the rain sees the silhouette of a young girl. Upon following her, he turns invisible, like her, and finds out there are various other invisible creatures roaming about. He has to find his way to her among the world of the invisible. Rain is an adventure game in which the player takes up the role as a young boy who is invisible and can only be seen when standing in the pouring rain. When walking under shelter outside the rain, the boy cannot be seen and can only be tracked by his watery footprints. The player will have to utilize the visibility of the boy, and other creatures, in the rain to solve various puzzles and tasks throughout the game. The game's theme song is "Cl …

    rain can be observed as a tribute to a cult classic Ico. The basic premise is pretty much the same, but what makes rain a much more enjoyable experience is the fact that, unlike Ico, it has no tedious sections or gameplay elements. What is there is the essence of Ico, everything that was great about it, while none of its problems made it in.
    Pros: Superb storytelling, beautiful soundtrack, cool gameplay hook, great visual and level design, varied and imaginative gameplay, excellent pacing, no traditional combat to speak of, no fluff, makes you care about the characters, awesome shout-outs to Ico
    Cons: Technically underwhelming (especially the rain), last two chapters are perhaps too simple both visually and gameplay wise

    This is the best free game with PS+ this month. I highly recommend everyone try it out. It's only a few hours long and has a gorgeous soundtrack.

    I love this game! I love the aesthetics of the buildings and the color palette used. I love the elegant way it tells its story. I love the mechanic of only being visible in the rain. I love the somber, contemplative atmosphere. But most of all I love the music--it is GORGEOUS. And when combined with the minimal sound design and great visuals, creates some of the most powerful storytelling I've seen in gaming in quite some time.

    That said, it has a couple significant flaws. First, the gameplay scenarios get somewhat repetitive in the final chapters, loosing steam just when the game should be ramping up to the climax. Second, while the ending is fine, it probably should have been told in a better way. That said it's still a great experience that at its best is downright beautiful.

    "Rain" is coming out today on Oct 2nd. Last night at 11:30 pm I preordered that game at the last minute and thus managed to get some extra goodies for free (soundtrack, xmb theme, five avatars), lucky me! And now I wake up and the whole game is already downloaded aaaand finally installed. I'm "drowned" in Indie games right now. hurr durr pun intended. me so funny.
