The first act of Nacho Vigalondo's "Open Windows" is quite good. It feels like a modern day rendition of Hitchcock's "Rear Window", where the windows have been replaced with laptop screens. There is a pretty good bit of social commentary going on about how weird the relationship between celebrities and their fans can get, especially in the light of the Iphone nude leaks scandal. And the direction is stylish and ambitious as the film is shot mostly through the limited view of a laptop screen (think found footage, but not as shit). "Open Windows" opens quite strong, and then the last 40min happens. The last 40mins of this film can only be describe as pure insanity. As Vigalondo begins to barrage us with one out of place twist with the next the whole film concaves on itself. Right from the start it's telling us to put logic on hold but when theses last 40min occur its impossible to do that.

Editing … ... This seems like the case of ambition getting in the way, Vigalondo just wants to do to much. And as a result the film suffers greatly from it, turning what could be an great film into one that dances between slightly average & slightly bad.
