I moved my score up from a 5 to a 5.5. So I threw all you Chrono Trigger fans a bone. You're welcome.

Do I want the PSone version on PSN for $4, or the DS version for $20? How big of an upgrade is the DS version?

Editing … The PS1 version has longer loading times, but animated cutscenes that have a very Dragon Ball-esque vibe. Source: I own a physical PS1 copy of the game and completed it in 2013

Editing … The load times on the PS version were horrible, but that was the least of the game's concerns for me. DS version is considered to be the ultimate version.

Editing … In my understanding the DS version is indeed the ultimate version. @Richard Pale, a friend of mine told me that he'd rather chop his hands off than play the abomination that the game is on Android. But he is a bit hyperbolic at times, so maybe it's not that bad.

Editing … DS verison has the same cutscenes, and additional content. The mobile version is good, but not as good. I recommend the DS version, or when/if they release the mobile version on PC.

Editing … From what I understand the Android version is the DS version but with full touchscreen controls that apparently are pretty good for the most part. If that was the deal I'd get it since it sounds better than playing it on an emulator but the catch seems to be that there's DRM and if you go a few hours without internet (on a plane for example) it won't let you play.

One of the best of all time....I think. I never finished it so can't rank it higher. I rented it as a kid and only played a small portion of it...but that portion was so awesome, it still made my top 100 list.

The composer worked so intensely on the soundtrack that he gave himself a stomach ulcer. https://youtu.be/nlKtTBPjggk

It's a perfectly playable game and the boss fights can be really fun. The music's a mixed bag for me but overall I like the soundtrack. But I find most of the combat way too easy and don't get a whole lot out of the story and characters outside of a couple sections, plus I'm not a big fan of the art style. The future has a neat atmosphere though.

Editing … See, I thought this game was way prettier than like the Final Fantasies on SNES. It's more detailed, including the character sprites, which allows for pretty expressive animations, and I find it more colorful, imaginative, and lively too. The game also sucked me in right from the start while I played FFVI for an hour and then got bored. Time travel tends to be an easy win with me, but seeing the story piece itself together across thousands of years, in an anachronistic fashion, was just really compelling to me. Do agree that the characters themselves aren't much to write home about, though.

If I had to make a Top 100 music tracks in gaming, about a third of them would be from Chrono Trigger. Highlights include the various Guardia-themed tracks, the Kingdom of Zeal's assortment of atmospheric tracks, 2300 AD's music when exploring, the basic Battle music, the character themes for Frog, Robo, Magus, and Lavos, and the dungeon music for Magus's Castle, Tyran Castle, and the Black Omen. Plus, "At The Bottom of Night" and "The Day The World Revived" are genuinely emotional.

I just unintentionally listed about half of the game's soundtrack as hgihlights, but that's only because so many tracks fully capture their corresponding area, character, or other subject, and do so in a way that makes the best use of the SNES's capabilities.

Singing Mountain is also phenomenal, but it was cut from actual gameplay.

Frog is the coolest ally ever. I guess the rest of the game is cool too.
