Editing … If you like action RPGs it is a lot of fun and is one of the faster-paced ones you can find. All the Ys games have fun combat!

Editing … My problem with Ys Seven and the little bit I've played/seen of Celceta is that the bosses have far too much health. We're talking incredibly one-note bosses that last for 10 mins. In Seven you could just-guard everything the enemy throws at you to fill your meter, unleash all your super attacks thinking you were gonna do some crazy damage, only to have to squint your eyes and see you just shaved off 2% from the boss' health bar. Every single boss had a point where I had to ask "Geez, is this still going?" From what I've seen, Celceta did nothing to change that. It's a shame, because Falcom has shown being able to make some incredible boss fights with #Nayuta no Kiseki. That said, the running around the world while hacking up monsters is still fun and really where these games shine for me.

Editing … Ys Seven has a huge problem with healing items, there are items that heal 1 guy, all 3 guys, or revive 1 dead guy. So during bosses it's like an exercise in accounting. "do I heal this guy now, or let him die then revive him with full hp, or do I wait until all 3 guys need healing"

Editing … I have played Celceta and 7. Both are good games not great but good. Of you want a great story sorry but your not getting it. If you want a good game that will consume some hours then Ys is for you.

I just finished the game and I really liked it! Even if I think they didn't explore the characters' feelings as far as they should have, they are interesting and contrary to what I expected, the story makes sense. I loved the concept of Artifacts, and discovering the map was pleasurable! Though, there's a thing a bit annoying: each time you enter a house or a church or whatever, the game is loading a bit. Annoying, but you get used to it. Well, I'm going to play more Ys games! :)

Ys was a series I was aware of and was interested in for a long time, but didn't really get into until playing Ys Seven on PSP. After beating the first boss I was hooked. Memories of Celceta, a remake of the Ys IV games, utilizing the same engine as Seven, was one of my most anticipated games for Vita. While it does emulate some of the strengths of that game, it comes up short on some critical aspects. Compared to Seven, the bosses of Celceta are mostly pushovers until near the end, and even then are mostly limited to simple attack patterns compared with the fun multi-tiered boss fights of better Ys games. This is compounded by the fact healing items are not limited, and can easily be stockpiled if you run into resistance. Third, flash moves make things even easier, too easily relied on and kills the flow of longer fights. Together it kills the challenge you'd associate with a good Ys battle, in ways cranking the difficulty can't really solve. It's good, but a disappointment.
