If you're not sure whether you should play a game or watch a movie, feel like MGS games don't switch enough between the two, and like yourself some random encounters, look no further!

I played the Kiwami 1 remake for the PS4. A good game but it feels a bit underwhelming when compared to Yakuza 0.

Editing … I completely agree. 0 is insanely good, and just better in every possible way, where this feels like a smaller, much less inspired reskin. I loved Kiwami 2 and 3, though, so Kiwami seems to be one of the weaker games in the series. It may not be a one off, though, because 4 has been boring a few hours in, but I hope that gets turned around, because I'm fully committed to the series, at this point.

Editing … I am quite interested in Kiwami 2, it looks to have way more content than Kiwami 1.

Editing … It brings back the Cabaret Club from 0, which is great. Aside from that, it actually took me about the same amount of time as Kiwami, despite having two cities, mini games and diversions I spent more time on, and a brief extra story with Majima. My only explanation is, the main story may be shorter than normal. It's awesome, either way, though.

@nodley, if you're planning to play your copy of Yakuza 1 on PC via PCSX2 here's a useful trick I found out by myself that makes the second half of the game less difficult. By using this method you can earn 10.000.000 ingame-Yen in less than 30 minutes:

    1. go the the underground casino in the red-light district (located in the upper east part of Tokyo)
    2. change 100.000 Yen into 1000 casino chips
    3. play roulette, create a save state
    4. wait until the winning number is announced
    5. reload your save state, place all the chips you have on said number
    6. earn 1.500.000 chips per minute
    7. buy dozens of "Muramasa swords" (best weapon in the whole game) in exchange for your chips

Editing … Eh, there's really no tough parts in the game with the exception of that one gun-toting acrobat guy that is neigh impossible to beat without the Bulletproof Vest. I managed to do it on my first try, but it cost me an entire inventory worth of energy drinks as well as the ones spread around the arena, and by the end I had only 1 hit left on my health bar. Lots of people had to give up on the game at that point as they used only a single save slot and simply couldn't pull it off with the resources at hand. Of course, if you're gonna play the game on an emulator, you can just save-state your way through it, but it's still a good idea to get that Bulletproof Vest as every bullet hit will knock you down otherwise. This is no longer an issue in the sequels.

Editing … Now that you mention it, where can you actually buy a bullet proof vest? I was offered one for 500.000 Yen in chapter ~12 by some guy in a bar but at that point I already beat this particularly annoying boss fight so it wasn't much use to me after that. And do you know perchange what the "life stone" is used for? I bought this overpriced useless stone from some esoteric schmuck for several thousand Yen but never found out what it's actually used for.

Editing … I believe there's a secret weapon store where the homeless hang out. Don't remember the specifics on how to unlock it. As for the Lifestone... Yeah, that's just a piece of junk. You got scammed.

"Yakuza 1 & 2 HD" for Wii U flopped in Japan. It sold less than 2000 copies (Source: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/08/yakuza_1_and_2_hd_reportedly_sells_less_than_2000_copies_in_debut_week). Don't expect this to come to the west. I guess it's "just another" Wii U flop.
