Oh wow i watched this with a friend last night and this movie lived up to the hype and then some! One of my favorite movies ever and probably my favorite super hero movie ever. The only gripes i had was how much Nixon looked like Pinocchio and the what i call outworld tiger. But overall i loved the movie and thought it was genius. If anyone here wants to talk about the ending with me i'd be glad to.

Also i can see why people love Rorschach so much. Easily the best character in the film.

Editing … You should read the comic. I also enjoyed the film but it only manages to capture a fraction of the comic's brilliance. Honestly the comic is just a masterpiece and one of the greatest pieces of art I have ever consumed.

Editing … I'm so glad they changed the ending of the movie, the original one was the only thing I didn't like about the graphic novel. Based Zack Snyder. Spoilerfucking tentacle aliens from space? Pff, please.

Editing … @Gries He I'd completely disagree with that - the ending used in the comic is the perfect thematic conclusion to the story. While the film is character-driven, the comic is world-driven. The story delves far deeper into the history of superheroes within this universe and the impact that they've had on the world we live in. The threat of alien life is the physical embodiment of unknown change, acting as the natural progression (and the one thing that can surpass) the introduction of the superhero. The film didn't aim to focus on these ideas (mostly just playing out a what-if superheroes in the real world type scenario), making the film ending suit the film better than the comic ending would. The comic's ending is still miles ahead of the film's on a purely intellectual level though, but a film's runtime just isn't long enough to reach the necessary depth to make the original ending work.
