So I thought I'd check up on the latest Google Street View of my grandparents' house in Warner Robins, GA. There's a white van in front it that says "State Prisoners," and 3 guys in reflective yellow vests looking at the the camera. Yup, that checks out alright. Don't think there's been a single trip to my grandparents where they didn't have prisoners trudging through ditches doing... I don't even know what. Are they supposed to be picking up trash? Because I doubt there is any.

Anyway, last time I was there was 2012. I actually considered showing up on their doorstep as a surprise. Taking the Greyhound bus in Atlanta would only take me as far as Macon. Then I'd still need to travel another 15 miles through what I'd describe as no man's land (for US standards, it's probably not actually that bad). Thought about walking the entire thing or hitchhiking my way there, but I dunno... America is weird. When I was last there, there'd recently been a shootout on a nursing home parking lot not far from their house. Why the fuck would there be a shootout on a nursing home parking lot?!

In any case, I figured it'd be too much of a hassle/dangerous/expensive, so I just got my grandfather to pick me up at the airport. But now I'm thinking of going there again along with my girlfriend, and the idea of just appearing there one day on their porch just seems like a really cool thing to do for my grandparents.

Turns out Uber is now active in Atlanta as well as Macon/Warner Robins, so transportation isn't really an issue anymore. Heck, we'd actually be able to get places without having to be stranded in a suburb.

Perhaps we'll go there sometime later this year.
