Well, someone won the award for biggest asshole of the decade. For now, anyway.

Editing … I think he had to do what he did. With Ukraine finding all that gas and Russia's economy relying so heavily on providing gas to Europe the future of their economy was looking extremely poor. Obviously you can't just go around invading countries anymore, but I can understand the reasons why he chose to.

Editing … Well he ended up tanking his economy anyway. But in the process he displaced 500,000 people and drew the curtain on how weak his military really was. Good show!

Editing … All I gotta say is, I definitely won't be able to visit the best Burger King at St. Petersburg airport anymore. I mean, I probably can't even visit the airport, now that airlines are restricting access. Putin, you blew it man.

Editing … To be fair I didn't know what specifically provoked the invasion. So, thanks to nodley for enlightening me on that. When he said he could understand why Putin wanted to do it, I misconstrued it as an attempt to justify the decision to invade.

Editing … It's the reason Rissia annexed Crimea a few years back, in doing so they took control of most of the shoreline where the gas is. But I heard Ukraine cut off the river and people living there now have no water and Russia has to send it in at massive cost. There's a lot of reasons but Ukraine joining nato isn't one, it's just an excuse to grab the money. Or that's my take on it anyway, it makes the most sense. Always follow the money if you want the truth. Thats also the reason the rest of the world hasn't sent in troops. Wars now will be mostly fought with money, with sanctions, ways to hurt their economy, cutting off imports etc. My stepmother is Russian btw, her family all live in Moscow.

Editing … speaking of which I thought it was kinda dumb (in retrospect obviously) when the Ukranian president was wagging the finger at the US, telling them not to play up the possibility of invasion as doing so incites panic, which impacts their economy. But then Russia actually invaded. (facepalm) He essentially encouraged his own people to be less prepared for what was to come, while trying to make the US look bad.

Editing … Is that what he did? I didn't see any of that, all i saw was Ukrainian celebs telling us Russia was going to invade on the news/social media. It was probably some political game. I hate politics, it's more a game to most. They want to do something so much that doing whatever it is becomes more important than doing the best thing. Then throw money in to influence them and it's just a waste of my time. Although I have recently got a little involved with 2 local MPs in my area who really do seem to be trying to make a difference here, but any MPs higher up the chain I trust as far as I can throw them.
