Tri-Ace's attempt to create a tactical rpg within the Valkyrie Profile universe takes some questionable design choices. The game is meant to be played multiple times, and can be almost impossible to play for the best ending the first time through. Like in other VP games you are encouraged to overkill enemies to get extra goodies, and in this game specifically to amass a "sin" quota. Doing so either rewards you with rare items after battle or makes the next battle harder if you fail to collect enough. The game is always too easy or too hard, and to make matter worse, you'll probably stick together to chain attacks, and because the AI is terrible, they won't all threaten you at once. Atmosphere and universe are still great however.
