Tribes: Ascend is a game that only gets better the more you play it. It's more of a thinking-man's FPS that, at first, might seem overwhelming (given the unique movement mechanics coupled with the shooting that relies more on anticipation than twitch reactions), but give it some time and the game will start delivering in spades.
Pros: It's FREE, once you get the hang of skiing, moving around becomes a joy, good music, fun gameplay (provided you invest some quality time in learning the game's ropes)
Cons: No dedicated servers, unlocks cost a ton of experience (which is earned at a snail's pace), dull art design

After a long (but appropriate) waiting time, the cult series finally got an installment for the 7th Generation - but now I wish they waited a little longer. Some genius thought it was a great idea to follow one of the worst current trends: the free2play model. As such, instead of being able to play the full experience from the get-go, the user first has to invest either time or money to unlock weapons, classes, equipment, and more. This includes even the most basic things. It may make sense to a Suit to get the most value out of the playing time, but it doesn't make any sense for the gamer at all. It ends up being a mutilation of the core experience. The gameplay itself is fun though. It's been distilled over the years, no wonder.
