This is the first game I wanted to play when I set out to play everything in 2014. This was not a good first stop.
    Pros:
    +The art direction is beautiful
    +The Soundtrack is solid
+I really love the designs of all characters
    +The gameplay gimmick is nice
+I like the frolic and sing button.
    +The game wasn't too long
+The last boss battle was really good. An actual battle of equals.
    Cons:
-This is super pretentious. When people call indie games pretenious I normally laugh at them but this was definitely too much for even me.
-The characters are super one dimensional
    -The story is bleh
-The main combat mechanic wasn't too nice
-I wish there was a "shut the fuck up" button for the sword.

pretentious unintuitive slow bs. the user interface is awful, dude won't shut up, I have no fucking clue what's going on or how to actually play this stupid game.
    3/10

worst 18 bucks I ever spent on a game.
    Great art direction, though.

Transistor was a fun experience that has a lot going for it. Excellent artstlye, superb soundtrack and a fun, interesting battle mechanic that becomes quite addicting once you start to mess around with it. I especially liked the skill system, allowing you to slot each ability into an active, passive or supportive role, letting you tweak your favourite abilities to suit your playstyle. I'll probably go back through the games recurse mode and make some use of the limiters this time as well. Superb game! :)

Now I just need to try Bastion ;)

Editing … Bastion's battle system is so, so much more fluid and intuitive than Transistor's, imho. They both look gorgeous, though. Glorious, inventive sound design, too. 3.5/5 game developer, would recommend. Btw, do we know what Supergiant Games is up to next?

Editing … I haven't finished Transistor yet but going off the first few hours it's just good whereas Bastion's outright great.

A truly hypnotic experience, either while gaming or driving. The moment a track starts playing, I am transported back to Cloudbank.

Supergiant proved its worth in the storytelling and art departments with their first game, Bastion, and it seems lightning will strike twice with Transistor. It's interesting that, despite being a mostly action-oriented RPG, Transistor is said to take some inspiration from turn-based JRPGs. The futuristic, Blade Runner-like setting and the main character, "Red," are also compelling.
