This spinoff of the brilliant and maturely written Doctor Who is both ironic and insulting. Apparently, making Doctor Who more "Adult" means adding profanity, sex and violence with all the maturity and restraint of a hyperactive 12 year old. Even if such an approach could be salvaged, the characters themselves are portrayed in the most annoying, juvenile fashion and Torchwood as a whole comes across as downright incompetent. I like Captain Jack Harkness on Who, infact I found his persona to be a refreshing change of pace... but here he's written and directed like a parody, removing any and all subtlety and nuance to his character and performance.

This pretty much sums up the show as a whole really... there is simply no subtlety to be found here, no tact, no clever dialogue, no complex, puzzlebox plotlines, not even decent visual effects, just tacky, lowest common denominator trash. I simply cannot believe Russell T. Davies is capable of betraying the franchise like this, he and everyone involved in the production of this show should be ashamed of themselves.
