Tinnitus /ˈtɪnɪtəs/ or /tɪˈnaɪtəs/; from the Latin word tinnītus meaning "ringing" is the perception of sound within the human ear ("ringing of the ears") when no external sound is present. Despite the origin of the name, "ringing" is only one of many sounds the person may perceive. Tinnitus is not a disease, but a condition that can result from a wide range of underlying causes. The most common cause is noise-induced hearing loss. Other causes include: neurological damage (multiple sclerosis),... View more [Wikipedia]

Btw, I hate q-tips and other related ear cleaners. I'm just trying to clear this wax out of my ear, but then I screw up and my ears start ringing for a few days. Sigh...

DJ JJ Slider Syringe for the win. Hey, that almost rhymes...

Mr. ZAP I just use my fingers...

DJ JJ Slider I also use an earpick from Daiso, but it doesn't work well unless I put Debrox into the ear canal. I've been trying my best to find an alternative, but the safest procedure is just Debrox and a syringe, I guess. But knowing me, I'm just overthinking this. Just use my fingers...

Simulated ear ringing in movies and television is always the worst. I mean, hello! I don't need any help!

Aramonde Hasashi If i had Tinnitus i don't know i could live with it.

Husky Wing It takes a few years to stop feeling like it's ruining your life. Some sort of white noise is always needed, and Baby Driver pretty much nailed my main coping method.

You know how sometimes your ears will ring temporarily?
I still get those alongside the 24/7 ringing. The temporary ones are just louder, and at a different pitch. Honestly not sure if it's louder or higher, it's just more noticeable.

The tinnitus in my right ear was rapidly wavering in pitch for a bit. That was weird.
Now it\'s back to its usual flatline.
The left ear experienced no change in tone.

I am curious
how many of you have this?

Woodrow Shigeru If you can bear it without going to the doctor, what you have probably isn't a tinnitus. Or merely a mild case, at best. I don't have a tinnitus but I learned to know two people who have it and they mostly suffer from it.

Husky Wing I've had tinnitus for over four years now, the ringing's never taken a break.

nodley Green I have problems with my nose too so I'm sure it's all linked, I have to take cetirizine just so I don't have a permanent nasal drip. It's been broken twice and I never bothered to get it fixed.

I bought a cure! (I got an mp3 player)

Gries He Which one? Also, is that ringing in your ears a permanent condition or are we talking about short burts of this annoying rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr diiiiiiiiiiii sound which everybody gets from time to time? Hopefully you didn't plan on wearing in-ear-headphones, I've heard that those actually make Tinnitus worse!

nodley Green Gries speaks truths, the doctors warned me decades ago not to use headphones.
