The sequel looks pretty darned good. And...yeah, it's coming on the same year as the anime show debut. Go figure.

Editing … Is he wearing a mask? =D But maybe that was always part of his design.

Editing … Either way, I think the series likes to pass it off as some stylish or cool trend. Lol. It's part of their campaign to make masks badass again. I mean, gr--whatever.

Editing … I wonder if they ever had a meeting to discuss whether to get rid of the mask seeing as players overseas will perceive it as a covid thing and not something that was there for style.

Editing … There's a demo up, so I decided to dive right in. I rate the art style, character design, soundtrack each a 10/10 as well as the option for japanese voices. (Nice save, there.) But the battles seem like shit, so.. I won't be playing it.

Editing … I tried playing the demo again. It's still really cool, but the battles are definitely ass. It's pretty much impossible to play while actually focusing on the action as opposed to the oppressive stamina meters (YAY STAMINA METERS) at the bottom of the screen. Not that you actually need to look at the action, since the characters automatically teleport next to the enemy any time you initiate an attack. I honestly don't remember what any of the enemies look like. One of them was a frog, I think.

Editing … They really should've tried to implement touch-screen...anything. That rhythmic combination of stylus and D-pad madness is what set the original game apart from...everything. These days I have to play Project Diva just to get any similar type of vibe.

Just got this game after many years of looking for it. So far I am liking it a whole lot. The actual combat feels a little weird at first but I like how it uses touch screen and both dual screens very well.

I can see myself playing this all the way.

Not a fan of the art style and didn't find the characters very likable, plus some of the music annoyed me, and I could never love a touch screen battle system. Can't say I dislike it though. It's just so weird and creative and unique. Certainly not a standard RPG and I'd say everyone should give it a glance.

Editing … Ok I can agree with you on this one. I loved the music and art but I disliked the characters and I could never wrap my head around the battle system. Eventually I gave up on it because I didn't have much of an incentive to play it.

The art style of this game is really inspiring and the story is one of my favourite in any JRPGs because it avoids a lot of Clichés. The pin battle system is unique too.

The World Ends With You is filled with all the worst emo stereotypes, but the story is still chock-full of hip music and style. In fact, the whole game is practically about Shibuya and its hipster culture. TWEWY also showed off one of the coolest battle systems with dual screen action and complex stylus/finger-swiping controls. As far as I'm concerned, there's no other game that gave me a bigger adrenaline rush than TWEWY. Just be sure to sit in a comfortable position, because the controls might take a year to master.

You have to hand it to this game for providing some sorely needed originality to the genre. Once you grasp the battle system it becomes a really fun game, and the setting is a refreshing change of pace. The only major grip I have against it is the music can becoming really annoying at times, sometimes I had to turn it off, something I rarely do when playing.
