CBS has announced plans to revive the iconic anthology series The Twilight Zone, but it won’t be an ordinary TV show. Instead it’s a melding of TV and video games, helmed by gaming industry legend Ken Levine (the driving force behind Bioshock).

Revealed by The Wrap this morning, the new Twilight Zone will be made with the help of a digital video company called Interlude, which creates interactive videos that let viewers decide the outcome of events—promising a similar level of interactivity in the new series that will, according to CBS, tell stories that “change and adapt the story based on what [the viewer] feels.” Choose your own adventure, Twilight Zone-style. This has the chance to be mindbogglingly weird and delightful.

So it makes perfect sense that Ken Levine—former head of games developer Irrational Games, and best known as the writer on System Shock 2, Bioshock, and Bioshock Infinite, games known for their reality-twisting storytelling that subverted player expectation and perception—will be writing and directing the pilot for the series. That sort of sensibility would work brilliantly for a series like Twilight Zone, and we can’t wait to hear more. Unfortunately, there are no further details yet, but we’ll keep you updated.

Editing … Sounds great, I wonder if there'll be much in the way of gameplay or if it's purely a story with interactive choices.

Editing … Already sounds better than the 2000s adaption. They can't fuck up anything as bad as they did that intro theme.

I'm currently watching the 1961 Twilight Zone episode "long distance call" and it's creepy as fuck. I actually teared up twice. 10/10

Editing … The show is really good. The Monsters are Due on Maple Street is the best episode though.

Editing … Remember that one episode from season one where that lady enters a mall and suddenly she's all alone in the building and in the end it turns out that she's a mannequin who came to life? That's I think my favorite episode so far.

Editing … I watched this show all the time as a kid. What bits I've seen since have been hard to go back to, but I had trouble going back to Doctor Who and I managed that so who knows? I dunno what my favorite was. I liked them in different ways.

Editing … Watched it. Creepy and emotional both for true. I think the black and white added an eeriness to the show. It's a little hard for me to go back to the old acting and music. Even during the Dad scene at the end, which I teared up during, I still smirked at the long pants line. But it was worth it.
