I remember really enjoying this at the time. I should try and find it again. It's messed up as all hell, but also incredibly fun and has a legitimately scary atmosphere.

Editing … IMO this is one of the scariest I ever player. I tried not to kill the NPCs not because I wanted the good ending, but because I didnt want to be alone :P

Editing … Awwwwwwwww Crash-y. My first was Silent Hill 1, as is probably obvious. Actually that was one of my first games period.

Editing … Silent Hill 1 was bloody terrifying. Shame the plot was so incoherently bananas.

Editing … I really liked incoherent plots growing up. Lost, Serial Experiments Lain, Noein, Final Fantasy VII, etc. I was into weird stuff I'd understand better going through multiple times. Trying to piece together Silent Hill 1's plot across multiple playthroughs was a highlight of my childhood. Silent Hill 3 helped a lot of course, though it also invented some new stuff I don't get.

This game was my first horror game experience, and one of my first horror experiences in general. As a major horror fan then, it's only natural that that meant it was very special to me. And it is. It's the only first person shooter of the genre that I can call scary, mostly because having a gun didn't meant that the monsters would die easy, and the main enemies couldn't even be shot. The whole atmosphere was amazing. And the multiple endings, although simple, where nice too. Silent Hill did it all, but better, nonetheless, for the fans of the genre this is a game that's very recommendable.
