Amazon wants to make a Lord of the Rings TV show http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/lord-of-the-rings-amazon-1202606519/
If they do this, then we're going to have two separate soundtracks to fill Middle-earth, and this bothers me. I'm not sure if I can handle having two different takes on what The Shire sounds like. Also, the Amazon shows I've seen have had pitiful budgets, I hope that's not the case with their big stuff :(
    I hope they make it.

Editing … Anything pre-Jackson's trilogy isn't iconic, though. It's like a PS1 or N64 adaptation coming up with a new soundtrack, it's not gonna be what people connect to the fiction. The readaptation can't just recycle the same music either, or it gives off the impression of being set in the same canon. I've often thought that Narnia might deserve a TV adaptation, but then we'd lose this OST https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_sMuo8Lujg

Editing … The soundtrack is essential to bringing the world to life. This is why high-escapism media like Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings, Narnia and Star Wars, even when surrounded by an industry so buried in temp music, have to deliver memorable themes and motifs. A fantasy movie with a generic soundtrack honestly fails to immerse you into its fantasy world.

Editing … YOU EVER SEE A SCI-FI OR FANTASY MOVIE WITH LICENSED MUSIC? THAT BOTHERS ME. Licensed music is lazy 80% (citation needed) of the time it's used in any film, usually it just means that the director doesn't realize his composer's capable of delivering the same feeling with a new, memorable track. Guardians of the Galaxy can do licensed tracks though because those tracks are diegetic, they're actually a part of the film's world, not a "post effect" just for the audience.

Editing … "The human eye can't even see anything above 24 frames per second." This has been debunked so many times. Do you just enjoy being wrong? I can't notice the difference between 60 and 120 fps (though who knows, if I saw them by side I might be able to tell) but 30 and 60 is definitely noticeable even without a side by side. It's especially noticeable in HD since more pixels are being skipped. And any console racing game in 30 fps looks stupid just by looking at it.

There are 92 LotR character pages.
There are 100 GoT character pages.
If we add eight more pages, will @Pape Badiane fix the character list?

TWD also has 92 pages. Maybe I'd best add another eight there, too.
Code Geass has 97, though. Hmmmmm....

@Papissama What basis is there for making the umbrella for the franchise be "Lord of the Rings". Sure, it's the flagship work, but it has always been portrayed as one piece of a larger whole. It's not even the first work, being a sequel to The Hobbit. And The Silmarillion and The Children of Húrin, among others, are largely removed from the story of the trilogy (seeing as how almost all of the players in the other books aren't even born yet, or even their realms founded). If anything it should be under a heading signifying this larger historical/mythological/literary work created by Tolkien, with it being done by him and focusing on the same canon being the unifying themes. The term I personally have always used is "Tolkien's Legendarium" which as far as I'm aware is fairly standard. "Tolkien's Mythology" or something along those lines would also be fine. "Arda" is the name of the world itself, if you want to be technical along those lines, though Middle-earth (the primary location, a supercontinent) is more well-known/used and so might be acceptable. But "Legendarium" is probably the most appropriate term, and as far as I'm aware is largely synonymous with Tolkien's work specifically. In any case all of these are better than just lumping the mythology under "The Lord of the Rings", which is really a relatively small piece of the canon, taken from a wider view. I know of no serious Tolkien fan who has used that term to describe the greater mythology.
