Isabella wants to see princess Aeriel.

It's not particularly good, I'm spending most of the time on my phone instead of watching.

Editing … I never the liked little mermaid strangely it was the only Disney vhs I had so I saw it a lot for lack of better. I couldn’t explain why I did not like it but looking back the animation is crap compared to snow white and sleeping beauty. I also hated the crab and fish companions. I could also not understand why she wanted to have legs so bad. That prince is defiantly not worth giving up breathing underwater for.

Editing … My thought was that the (good) main characters in movie and tv show were just retarded, doing stupid things for no reason. My brother watched the little mermaid back then, know more than i want due this and the movie vhs must be lying around collecting dust somewhere.

Editing … Yeah, it was like Disney was forcing you to like this thing they wanted to do instead of doing actual good stuff. I took Isabella to the little mermaid pantomime last year and it was brilliant, the evil chracters were so camp and hilarious I really enjoyed it. And I'm a manly man I don't do pantomimes! The film is actually a bit shit in comparison.

Editing … Indeed a serious of midiocre Disney productions at that time, after little mermaid (meh) and aladdin (decent) later i skipped tarzan, what a mistake. Watched last said in my 30s, beeing way superior overall, songs sung by Phil Collins (in german! french and spanish also existing as i recall) are among my favorites from all disney flicks.

Editing … Neither did I truly know of any remake, but I'm not surprised in the slightest that there is one. — Either I'm just in the minority or I remember it more fondly than it deserves (haven't seen it in over a decade), but I always loved this movie.

What is it about The Little Mermaid? There's so much wrong with it but I love it anyway. The Disney "magic" that the company is always marketing is in this film for me more than any of the others. The various elements of the film just combine in a way I really like I guess. Part of Your World is one of my favorite songs. The middle of the film around the point of Ariel's transformation is really engrossing, exciting, and well paced. I just get so wrapped up in it all. The prince is bland yet I like him anyway. It's likable how wrapped up he is in finding his mystery girl. I like King Triton and Ursula too. It's too bad the last twenty minutes make no damn sense. And I don't like Under the Sea. I didn't even used to think I was SUPPOSED to like it. Ariel just leaves in the middle of it after all.

„Ah, fairy tales. So popular among children and so often considered sweet and fantastical. You may be surprised just how dark and scary the origins of your favorites really are.”

    “The little Mermaid

Disney took out the gore and turned this creepy tale into one with a happy ending.
(...) Once she gives up her fins for legs and her voice for a life of muteness, she finds that she always feels like she is walking on two sharp knives. (...) Instead of marrying her, the prince marries another, and the little mermaid’s heart breaks.

She is then given a proposition by the Sea Witch to kill her beloved prince and return to her happy life. The mermaid cannot bring herself to do this and throws herself into the sea as her body dissolves into sea foam.”

The things I like about The Little Mermaid pretty much end at "Part of Your World" and Ursula, who admittedly is probably one of the best villains in Disney history. What I hate about it, though, is that it's centered around one of the most insufferably annoying, bratty, whiny and ditzy protagonists Walt Disney Pictures has ever spat out. And the romance between Ariel and Eric is shockingly artificial, considering what Disney was able to accomplish just two years later with Beauty and the Beast. It's a fine movie for kids (obviously the main target demographic), but every Disney Princess movie since has easily topped it.
