Trails in the Sky: SC is an epic dream project that almost never saw the light of day outside of Japan. The script is almost as massive as the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I would try to summarize the story, but that alone would take hours to explain. It's like a steampunk fantasy adventure, combined with a romance about star-crossed lovers, and topped off with a Rurouni Kenshin-style battle between good versus evil. Although the battles are tough, the gameplay hasn't changed too much. Besides, everyone should just play this game for the beautifully written dialogue.
Maybe I'll finish this game in a year or so. Then I'll see if my review still holds up...

Just started this. I was intending to buy it eventually, but then Sony decided to remove the store from the PSP soon after the release. So uh...I found other ways to work around that problem. I mean, I didn't want to waste that old save file from the first game. Took me a ton of hours to get that far.

Anyhow, looks like Estelle is on a quest to find her brother. I mean her boyfriend. I mean...oh forget it. Too hard to explain. The game's difficulty punished me from the get-go. It ain't for rookies.

And holy smokes, there's two discs. This might last a lifetime...

The Second Chapter of Trails in the Sky is just what the title says: a direct continuation from the events of the first game. Not having to do as much setup, SC benefits being able to get to juicy story development much sooner. Everything that's good about the first game is still present, and the other stuff is better. Immediately noticeable is the battle tweaks. Actions have been thankfully quickened and you have more options, making battle decisions more interesting. More orbment customization options, more skills, more characters, a longer story, more music (including some standout tracks), just more stuff all around. The story is more interesting with more menacing antagonists and stakes that are both bigger and more personal.

The story is a structured a little more episodically that I would like at the beginning and a little padded in a couple spots. Still, I'm now a believer is the Kiseki series and anyone who likes a good story-driven jrpg should have them on their radar too.

Man, didn't realise this was out already. This year has been flying past :/ Still, at least now when I finish Trails in the Sky, I will be able to jump straight onto this one :)
