I can't tell you what it's so great about this game. You have to live there to understand. Hint: Use common sense and you will survive.

(And check Daggerfall too but you may not survive there.)

This is the first, and really the only game, I've ever lost an entire weekend to. The only time I experienced was relative to my time in the game. When this came out there was nothing quite like it, the experience was unmatched, and I have yet to find another game quite as immersive or as open. It wasn't until I killed an essential NPC that I realized how great this game actually is... There wasn't a game over screen, just a simple notification that it was now impossible for me to complete the main quest, but that I could keep playing if I wished to.

Out of all the games on this list, this one is perhaps the most flawed, what with it's flat, forgettable characters, and stiff, awkward combat that tries to merge real-time interactions with stats and dice-rolls in a way that really, really, doesn't work. But what this game gets so very right is creating a beautifully strange, intricate, believable world, with it's flavor text, it's clothing designs, it's architecture, it's lore. Basically with everything.

Many people have criticized this game, and rightly so, for being very dated in certain respects, but if you can look past that, you're in for one of the most engrossing game worlds ever created (I can't believe I typed something that cliche).

This game took me the longest to sit down and play. I'd picked it up several times, only to put it down again because I found it too difficult (and admittedly, I had no idea how to properly use a map). But once I figured it out, it had the most vivid landscape full of unique characters and fascinating quest lines I've ever encountered. It's still what I consider the most imaginative of the Elder Scrolls series.

I played Morrowind at a friend's house after I knew he had it, it was a really nice experience; the choices and exploration is great and the rolls you can have are also very varied wish gives something few RPG's give, depth. I didn't felt this thrilled in a game since maybe Fallout 3, though I don't think is the best game ever, is definitely one of the best RPG's I've ever played!

Such a magnificent game for its time. My score of 9 is based on at the time I played it; Morrowind is a game that hasnt aged particularly well and most new players probably wont enjoy it.
However being my first open world RPG, I was captivated. The world is unique with different environments and settlements packed in one island, it felt like a whole continent at times. The exploration was probably 1 of the best things, there was so much stuff to see and do, and no quest markers meant that you had to READ your journal for clues and directions, as well as learning the geography of the land around you.
The quests were ok, but the loot, exploration, world and music were all top notch. Seriously, Morrowind has the best soundtrack of the series

A great game and a great story and of course great soundtracks, this game is just awesome and if you plan it right while playing you can become very strong in a very short period of time. However there are a lot of bugs and glitches such as characters that just disappear but luckily if you play on PC these inconveniences can be surpassed. Awesome environments and gameplay.

I'd already played Oblivion so this was never going to blow me away like it probably would have if I'd played it when it was new. It's amazingly deep and complex compared to what I was playing at the time and it pioneered a lot of things I love about it's successors.
I'm about 20 hours in and I still feel like I've only scratched the surface. My only complaint is that the combat seems broken until you've levelled up but I got around that with a mod.
