Watching the video, it looks like an action RPG with a four player party. I'm sure you can switch between people, but still, at any given moment, you'd only be controlling one character while the other three do things on their own. I'd feel like I'm only playing one fourth of a game. That's part of why I stopped playing Tales of Symphonia immediately. Does anyone else have a problem with games like that? I prefer action RPGs like Crisis Core and Ys Oath in Felghana and Fallout 3 where you are just one character.

I just finished my first Tales of! I'm proud of me! :3
I really liked the places, they are beautiful, the characters are interesting, even if Jude is not the most heroic character. Gladly I chose Milla's path. I would have liked the story better if they made it last a bit longer, hopefully there is Tales of Xillia 2, but they could have done better, with the plot twists for exemple. Here,Spoiler we fight the real bad guys during the middle of the game, but the real boss at the end is not even bad. He just sees things differently. This is quite frustrating.

Editing … The orb that allows the characters to learn arts and abilities is really easy to understand and quiet satisfying. I was disappointed that there's no wonder chef in this one. To me, it was an emblem of the series. I hope this will be fixed in the second opus. The last thing that was different is that instead of traveling on a map, you can warp directly to the locations you desire.

Editing … So no ship, no plane. But you still have to cross trails and paths, and it doesn't change the dungeon systems either. In conclusion, I really liked this game despite some little things. It's worth a try. I really like the Tales of series! <3

Really fun Tales game, and Milla has easily become one of my favorite characters. But wow, I wish the story made a damn lick of sense

I soooo wanted this to be good.... but I can't get into it! Sure, a lot of things are better than Graces F(which I just finished with) but it just doesn't grab me. I'm hard to please I guess.

Editing … The story is balls, but the gameplay is good. Kinda impressed on how this game didn't grab you, but Vesperia did...

Editing … I think it's because I came straight off the back of Graces, I love that old style feel it has. This has a more FFX and FFXII feel to it. I do like the game, but it's just not exciting me.

Editing … That's a weird feel to have, it has virtually nothing to do with FFX or FFXII (not even in series' related impact). It's kinda sad you feel that way, underneath the uninsteresting characters and bland story there's some good gameplay...

Editing … I think it's the way the mini map is and the areas, all those different ledges to climb and stuff. It really does feel like FFX when I'm exploring.

Editing … I guess you could say it feels more like XII, in the way their separate maps interconnected with so many hidden items to find in rocks/bushes and stuff. I don't see how it's similar to X...

Editing … It's just the feel I get. I'm not sure whether I prefer the combat over Graces either.... I think I should have played something else inbetween, it's like I'm comparing instead of enjoying.

Editing … I thought it was gonna be a really great game, I thought the trailers and pics looked awesome. The new artstyle made me think they were going a more serious direction, which I thought was the logical step for the next Tales of game which got me very hyped. I'm at the 10h mark iirc, and while it didn't live up to the hype, it's still your standard Tales of game which means it's pretty good. I like it more than Vesperia, I hated that game but the gameplay was good, but I still find Symphonia to be the best yet and Abyss was also better. My only dissapointment is that I thought this was gonna be much more than standard...

Editing … Standard Tales game sounds awesome to me! I tend to like them a little more than the average RPG fan. I ordered Graces F too, now I have a couple of days to try and decide which to play first.

Editing … The thing where Tales of really stands out is in it's awesome combat, but I just wish they played with it a little more. Graces F was the one that tried to change it more, but both of these ended up pretty standard JRPG's with cliche'd and boring plots, bland soundtracks...but hey, these games are all worth it just for the gameplay alone!

Editing … Well, you know me, I'm an old school JRPG diehard, I don't want them messing about with what I love. Just keep on churning them out as they are, I don't want another FFXIII :D I also got both for £50 on Amazon, it was too good an offer to turn down, games here are usually £40 each.

Editing … Well i'm also a JRPG diehard, but when I feel i'm paying for the same game all the time there's a problem. To be fair, FFXIII was a good step in direction of JRPG storytelling even though the writing was...questionable to say the least. But when I play XIII I can AT LEAST say i'm not playing the same game again. Tales of are better than XIII, don't get me wrong here xD

Editing … The problem for me with XIII was its linearity. At least the Tales games are open world, I can explore the world map and grind in different areas. Some people say it kills the pace of the games story, but I like games more as an adventure, I like to feel I'm evolving my character more than following the story.

Editing … To be fair, Graces F is also extremely linear in terms of progression (even though it has many side stuff). And yeah, XIII was way too linear to ignore...you're like me it seems, you value gameplay much more than focus on story. I like when they have both, but give me a JRPG with a shit story but awesome gameplay and i'll love it much more than one that does the opposite :D

Editing … Yep, Gameplay>Story for me too. Ah, Graces is linear huh..... I'll play it first, then if it isn't living up to my expectations I can move on to Xillia.
