Editing … Actually, Namco did a bunch of ports of their old RPGs in the last few years. I have no idea whether they're good ports, but they did port them...

Editing … oh strange move from namco but okay. That's good for game preservation I'm sure. Do they have Abyss? I'm not going to play a long ass rpg on a tiny 3DS screen. pc port would be nice maybe.

Battle system and environments are good but the story has issues. It's got a great main character but things are slow to get going with not much in the way of direction or explanation, the more interesting themes end up fizzling out, and the story's third act is kind of a disaster. Symphonia and Abyss superior.

I almost always gripe about the campy dialogue in Tales games. However, Vesperia somehow found the perfect balance of comedy and drama. The graphics might lack the high-end pizazz of Xillia, but I still think the character designs look very beautiful in this game. I'm also impressed with the detailed dialogue in Vesperia. This is truly my favorite game in the Tales series.

This is the first TALES game that i have played, and let me tell you I was impressed. The anime style graphics instantly made me fall in love with the game. The story line, while somewhat cliche, still holds its own. The characters are fun and diverse and the music is simply lovely. While the TALES series is not a popular as say the Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest series I still found myself placing this game higher in my JRPG list then some of the Final Fantasy games.

The "Fatal Strike" mechanic adds to an already fun battle system that's the base line of the Tales series. Players can synthesize materials dropped by enemies to create equipment, and can learn and equip a large range of skills to fit their own play style and preferences. Thematically, Vesperia is a clever battle of Western and Confucian values, but the story itself is horrid, maddeningly prattling on about ~magical math~ and subjecting players to unending melodrama and a slew of uninteresting characters. One exception is the protagonist, Yuri, who sidesteps JRPG character stereotypes with his brand of vigilante justice and his down-to-earth personality.
