...Okay, so the decisions that I've made so far are now causing my wizard to lose loyalty points. Stupid jerk. I mean, I killed some of your Wallister peoples, but that's no excuse, man. Wallisters don't even do anything. They just sit at home and talk about peace all the time.

The things I do for loyalty points...

The icing on the cake is that a character dies if I choose the wrong path. Thanks, you stupid devs.

Damned game causes more stress than Mass Effect. Well, maybe not THAT bad...

I found out that I have to raise weapon ranks if I want to raise a character's loyalty. And that can only be done if I use the weapon a million times. Sigh...great.

See, this is why I still hate strategy RPGs. And I don't know why I'm still playing this...

Editing … Everything just played better in Front Mission 4 and Final Fantasy Tactics. The whole loyalty score is broken. Meh.

Editing … I also watched the GameTrailers review on YouTube. SRSLY, how many hours did it take them to recruit monsters in their party. That alone would probably take 20 hours to level up my recruiting skill. By that point, I'd go postal.

Editing … have you ever noticed at one point or another that gametrailers reviews are total garbage? The voiceover keeps repeating the same points, and the gameplay clips are like a half a second long. It's really spastic. You should look for a reviewer like Zero Punctuation who actually talks about what the game is like in practice. Not to mention he doesn't give scores.

Dang it, Arcylle in my party is whining, because of one of my morality choices. Now I have to raise her loyalty levels or else she'll ditch my clan. At least I know why I stopped playing. Grr.

Seems like I have to make a morality choice in each chapter. Why can't I just say, "Dudes, stop killing each other"? I mean, that would make it easier on these guys, because these war games always have people fighting. Then again, there wouldn't be any point in playing the game if that happened...

I love strategy RPGs, but man, why do I have to grind all the time? And it's never as simple as walking five steps before fighting monsters. I have to move back and forth on a map until the game decides that I should fight.

    I have no patience. Sigh.

Editing … Yeah, but the random encounter rate is extremely low on the world map. Either that, or I keep running into safe town areas? I swear, there must be some stupid safe town that's keeping me from getting into fights. I also don't know whether the monsters level up with my party, or if their level is based on the highest-level character in the battle.

Even if the story plods at a slower pace than Final Fantasy Tactics, this game still holds a special place in my heart. The battlefields are bigger and there are a ton of unit types with cool abilities. The graphics are outdated, but this actually makes the battles move with quicker animation. This game is simply a strategy RPG masterpiece. Man, it is hard as hell, though.

Still the mother of all strategy turn-based RPGs imo. Tactics Ogre has a great mature political story set in a world that has a real sense of history. While the original is great, I recommend the PSP remake, which updates the game with fantastic artwork, reworked soundtrack, a great translation, and smoothes out some of the rough quirks of the original, while still providing a nice challenge for those who wish to forgo the chariot mechanics. Better than the more famous Final Fantasy Tactics in my opinion.
