So Suzanne Vega wrote a cheap ditty about reading the newspaper at Tom's Restaurant in New York. It was an acapella song called "Tom's Diner." And then everyone started making remixes of that s**t. I mean, "Tom's Album" has everyone. DJs, rappers, some random German dude, political activists who turned the lyrics into something about George Bush and illegal immigration (that one was really weird). And then two decades after this album came out, Fall Out Boy released some wack stadium rock anthem that sampled "Tom's Diner."

All that said, DNA's remix is probably the best one. Lol.

And oh yeah, Tom's Diner also helped to create the compression scheme for mp3s, technically making her the mother of the mp3 okay I'll stop

Editing … That song is ancient. I remember listening to a version with drugs lyrics in it when I was in the army cadets in about 1992.
