So this game is 10 years old. And yeah, it's still the most under-rated gem in the Steam store. One of those trippy adventures that relied solely on ambience and a dry sense of humor. Like, they were watching tons of Adult Swim skits, they loved the deadpan humor and art style, and they decided to make an entire game around those concepts.

Not everyone gets it. I'm totally cool with that, man. I just wish that every other mobile game developer actually followed these standards.

Every segment of Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP oozes simplicity and, yet, when all of it is put together, it's a marvelous title that is rich in both style and substance. It is fascinating how simple visuals, writing and music can come together in such a way and create a world that sucks you completely in.
Pros: Absolutely wonderful music, thick with atmosphere, humorous writing, makes the quest feel strangely important, minimalistic visuals, splendid animations, lovely characters, the world feels somehow authentic, game itself is quite meta
Cons: Poor controls on the PC, slow movement and repetitive combat, if you exit the game mid chapter the moon pattern will revert back to normal when you come back to it, only a handful of areas to explore, constantly reminds you of its Twitter integration (although it's optional)

There's literally no other puzzle game that can match the magic of Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP. Superbrothers didn't just bring back the cool puzzle adventure vibe from the 90s. It literally set the standard for all mobile adventure games, with humorous story twists, beautiful ambient music and charming retro graphics. It's one of my favorite games for the 2010s.

I'd like to think that I'm open-minded towards new ideas in gaming, or even bold experiments. But if this nonsensical, void-of-gameplay schemozzle brings any redeeming features to the table at all, it hides them well! Being strange alone doesn't make it good.

A psychedelic and amazing experience that I will never forget. The soundtrack is great, as it's supposed to be.

This is what I call an adventure-action game: reversely, the emphasis lies way more on puzzle-solving than combat. "S:S&S EP" is beautiful, hilarious and awesome. With marvellous shrubberies & landscapes, miniscule idyllic sound & pixel FX as well as mystical music, you are easily enthralled by the Scythian's journey to Mingi Taw. The language and humor are quite meta. And the pixel art style is the finest example of aesthetic minimalism that I've ever seen. Did I mention how beautiful this game is? However, the repetitive unskippable cutscenes are a minor drawback, and the only hand-holding that is taking place is the narrator leading in and out of the chapters - but to be honest, I like him.
