I only played this for a little while with friends and high school but I had a really good time. It's a nice memory.

For all intents and purposes, Brawl is a good game. It expands on the basic concepts of what made Melee so great while botching some of the deeper mechanics that made Melee better than it should have been. Brawl's biggest problem is how toned down it is. The colors are more muted, the game is slower and it just lacks a draw competitively. It's still fun to play casually but the slower pace of the game makes it a bit more of a drag compared to Melee. The expanded roster and soundtrack are nice additions but other additions like SSE don't work. Subspace Emissary is basically the worst Kirby game. The reworked Target Test is also boring and the trophy selection is less like a museum of Nintendo and more like a commercial for Donkey Kong Barrel Blast. SSBB feels less like a heartfelt love letter and more like a Hallmark card. It's shallow and without the heart but it still functions. And even a functioning Smash Bros. game is still really, really good.

The sole reason Brawl is in my list is because of Project M. If P:M didn't exist at all, Bawls wouldn't be here.

I will never, ever forget Sakurai's marvelous contributions to the world. As we should all know, he once summed it up in a single sentence on a particular Dojo post: "Wow, we really have thought of everything, haven't we?" Yes. Yes, sir, you have. From the very first post on that site all the way to my most recent hours with Brawl, there has always been a continuous feeling of being overwhelmed by the amount of quality content and genuine effort by the greatest of revered contributors from all across the known land. No matter how you feel about the core game, the work put into the project is undeniably a marvel of its own.

Maybe not as good as Melee. It's still a blast to Play, and thanks to Online Play, The Hours of Play Time will be drastically increased!

Brawl is an excellent sequel to melee, a little underrated in my opinion; but it's still an excellent fighter, I felt there were a few things about it that didn't convinced, however; like the fact that you can trip by no apparent reason, or some overpowered characters (Solid Snake, Ike...) among others, but I'm not questioning the game, just this little things that seam to have slipped the developer's hands during production; I LOVE this game, I really do, but it just hurts me that this little missteps made this game feel less when I compare it to the memories I had from melee, Yet it is, without a doubt, on of the best fighters ever made

Yes, yes, I do like Melee more than Brawl, but I will admit - Brawl is the better game. Everything from Melee was refined and polished; every character had his or her own setlist (more or less) and all were balanced... well, except maybe Ike. Fuck that guy. Most of the stages were well-designed and very stylish, and the sheer amount of content is unmatched in this great genre. But Brawl's shining achievement has to be having one of the most collective, varied and downright OUTSTANDING soundtracks... ever! Of any industry. Brawl is the best game in the series for all of these and more reasons, and it stands as one of the best examples of genre defiance since Bioshock.

Folks love their Melee, but Brawl is simply the biggest, best and most fun Smash Bros to date. I know some folks take their Smash Bros competition very seriously, and Melee is supposedly the hardcore gamers' choice. But I don't care, Brawl was the tops on the fanboy fun meter for me! Sonic and Snake, more characters than ever, stages from all across Gamecube and the best soundtrack in gaming, period! I've spent well over 100 hours Brawling with friends and bots and I'll continue to do so until the next Smash Bros game!
