I just finished watching the entire series in a row, after a glowing recommendation from a friend. The show is really good, I mean yes it suffers from some of the problems 95% of shows out there suffer but it's still leagues above every other show out there! (I know that's not saying much, but a compliment nonetheless)

The writting is mostly good, but like almost every show ever I cringed in certain moments (Mike's relationship with Rachel is so poorly written, I almost banged my head against the wall everytime a conflict came between them). The direction is good too, and so are the performances mostly...but there's one thing this show has that really impressed me: Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman's performance)

With a character so emotionally complex, you'd think the writters would fail at handling him like most TV writters do. But they didn't. Louis is, seriously, one of the better written characters i've ever seen on a TV Drama. He's intelligent, dedicated, caring, funny, is proud of himself as a person and a lawyer, he can be brutal and bold to get the job done and litt every opponent up...but he's also sad, desperate, broken, alone. He also has people who he admires, and that he just wants to be accepted by as a friend. I could also list the number of hobbies he does, his unusual routines and behaviours at the office and how he loves cats, but Rick Hoffman's performance does it in a way I can't put it into words. He knew the brilliant character and script he was handed to, and he had the time of his life with Louis Litt! And it sure reflects all over his performance, with Louis he sent us all through such an emotional rollercoaster that will make this character, and many of his moments on the show, unforgetable!

I don't know what will happen to him after "This is Rome", but I cannot wait.

I just watched the first season, and I like it. The acting is good, the writting is decent overall and I like the characters...but there's one thing that's been bothering me all along: Mike's understanding of the legal system.

The explanation they came up with is total bulls***! The legal system is something extremely complex and needs tutoring to master the way he did, you can't just expect to read a book and BAM i'm a lawyer. I facepalmed so hard, my forehead fell off my face xD

But other than that, so far, i'm liking it. If next seasons don't improve on this, i'll be dissapointed.
