Pros of this season: MBB as El will always hold a special place in my heart, and she maintains her record of pitch-perfect performances as ST's continued leading lady, but it was high time that some other actors got the chance to step up to the metaphorical plate this season and knock it the fuck out of the park--think Joseph Quinn as new fandom favorite (to massively understate it) Eddie, as well as Jamie Campbell Bower, Sadie Sink, and Caleb McLaughlin. It was also high time that we got some back story regarding Hawkins Lab to really grasp onto, and to better understand how we got to where we are in the "present" of 1983-1986, where the majority of the series takes place. Also *love* what the Duffer Brothers did for Kate Bush (who must be cloud nine rn, seeing a song of hers be jettisoned to a popularity never seen when it was first released over 30 years ago) and Metallica this season. And right on schedule (given the kids' ages at this point), the season is beginning to confront the issue of what closeted, gay teens in the 80s were going through. They've spent the past three seasons hinting at Will absolutely being some brand of not-hetero (I personally went for "asexual"/"aromantic" initially whereas now I think he's both demisexual/demiromantic and gay--anyone else peep the subject of his school project in California? Alan Turing?), and while I think Will deserves to realize he can do a lot fucking better than Mike, it's nice to see that all of that a-hint-a, a-hint-a-ing they've been doing for the past seasons is actually having some payoff.

Cons of this season: While El's journey is moving and so many are able to relate to her in spite of her supernatural back story and abilities, for GOD'S SAKE, DUFFER BROTHERS, LET THIS CHILD'S HEART REST. The brand of bullying we see her deal with this season hits way too fucking close to home. More serious criticisms: - I can't stand Mike. I can't FUCKING stand him. I could write an (at least) five paragraph essay about why he sucks. - Please, just stop with dragging out the Jonathan/Nancy thing. It's dumb and tropey and I hate it. - Unless they have an explanation hiding in their back pocket for S5, they created a whole plot hole with Spoilerthe Upside Down being "frozen" in 1983 on the day Will went missing. How does that work, when Will was able to interact with Joyce's Xmas-lights-alphabet-wall? The painted letters should not have been visible to him. Also in S1, when Joyce and Hop go in to find Will, there is a blood stain on the floor in the hallway where Nancy and Jonathan caught the Demogorgon in a bear trap. But the happenings in Rightside-Up Hawkins should not leave physical evidence in the UD based on this new info given this season about the UD being "frozen" on the day of Will's disappearance.

Wow! Still early on but I'm loving season 4 so far.

Having a good soundtrack in your movies, shows or games can sure make such a difference. And using licensed songs rather than (or in addition to) an exclusively created, dedicated score can lead to really varying results that range from bad to great.

But … to use a licensed song so well, and make it so powerful, that it elevates the scene – while at the same time, have the scene elevate the song in return … That's just a mind-blowing experience.

Quentin Tarantino's movies usually have that too.

I wish I knew how to describe this phenomenon poignantly with as few words as possible, so as to make a Favorite _____ list.

Editing … You do you. The Stranger Things, I reckon, can be enjoyed at any one's point in time of their lives. It's about the eighties, so it'll be just as great in 2052 as it was in 2022. And it will surely be available in a few decades still; even if as a "download". — Though I will say, it's gonna help if you're into #D&D – they're really leaning into that angle.

Editing … Season 4 was such a random drop, I literally heard zero press about it. Which is odd cause they spent so much on marketing the third season. Haven't got to it yet but glad to hear some positive review.

Editing … I will say, SpoilerI don't like how the mobbing subplot has been handled; in particular, how that ended. The subplot "in Russia" is also kinda weird but … eh. Don't really much hate it. But that mobbing … In hindsight, I totally forgot that it happened. With no consequences whatsoever for El. Such a downer, if you think about it. — But other than that, I liked it very much. I started one night with two episodes and then couldn't work or think of anything else until I binge-watched the rest the day after. Too bad it's NOT the complete season yet. I always hate when I realize that before having started it.

I've heard about Stranger Things through Youtube ads, of all places. They were all rather short, looked nice but was nothing to intice my interest in seeing. The fact that 98% of TV shows out today, and the last 5 years really, are all total garbage did not help either. My brother then told me about the critical acclaim that's getting, thanks to it's refreshing 80's vibe, and got me to sit down and watch it...and holy shit!

The first two episodes are pretty damn good, but it's the third one that cements this TV series into the all time greats! The story is incredibly interesting, and it's done at an almost perfect pace. Stranger Things keeps the suspense and mystery throughout all episodes, and it achieves this masterfully. And the characters are amazing, very well developed and they feel so genuine and relatable. They really make you feel for these characters, and care about them as people like no other show out there does. The dialogue is fantastic, really makes everything feel believable and brings the world and characters to life, allowing the actors to give some of the best performances ever on television. It actually blew me away how great the performances were.

What immediately struck me was this 80's feel to it, you can tell this show was heavily inspired by old school 80's movies. The main characters' relationship with a certain person reckons back to Elliot and E.T., the four main characters are very reminiscent of The Goonies, and it's mysterious and suspenseful atmosphere, coupled with some terrifying imagery reminded me of the original Alien and John Carpenter's The Thing. While I was watching I said to myself "so many different styles crammed into one, they must screw this up somehow"...but they didn't. They not only achieved it, but created something truly breathtaking.

It's very hard to point any flaws in Stranger Things, but I guess the special effects could've been a little better. They're not bad by any means, but you can tell they're on a TV budget with limited resources. Besides that, and like one or two predictable scenes, Stranger Things does a fantastic job at making the audience invested in the story and characters. Better than any TV Drama i've ever seen! The ending is phenomenal, ties everything together but gives room for following seasons.

If you haven't seen it...see it. Just see it. You will not be dissapointed. An instant classic, and the greatest TV Drama ever made!
