Whoever designed this adventure has no sense of decency. Each chapter has at least one cheap enemy/map/game mechanic that could ruin the whole adventure. Some sections will boggle the player's mind with cryptic dialogue that makes little to no sense.

With that said, it isn't impossible. A lot of the story ideas were pretty ambitious. And yeah, I guess the "hidden" inventory items provided some pretty clever ways to fight enemies. I love that giant ghost boss in Chapter Three. So yeah, this game is good. And frustrating as hell.

Difficulty is a topic that spawns much debate in the gaming community these days. How "games have become much easier than before" is widely argued. If there has ever been a game that stands in favor of this argument, it's StarTropics. I mean, good GOD... this game is incredibly difficult. But that is BY NO MEANS a bad thing! ST is a great example of the golden rule: Just because a game is immensely difficult does NOT mean that it's broken. Everything about ST is classic: the environments, the weapons (A GODDAMN YO-YO), and the premise. Plus, it's got a great soundtrack and unique gameplay style. StarTropics is my personal favorite NES game, and if you haven't tried it, it's time to change that. Right now. No seriously, RIGHT NAO!
