Before I begin on Return I have to say that I do not believe that this is a bad film, I do, however, believe that this is where the cracks begin to show - cracks that eventually become craters in some of the prequels. So I'm going to start this off with the bad, the obvious bad that I think many people would agree with me on. The battle of Endor - not to be confused with the battle OVER Endor - is dumb. Fucking teddy bears are killing - at least it is implied that they're killing - stromtroopers with sticks and rocks despite the fact that they have the technological advantage and it's so incredibly hard to take seriously - this scene makes it blatantly obvious that the creation of the Ewoks was solely for merchandising, so the parents will buy their children toys of the cute little teddy bears they saw help take down the big evil. Another complaint I have - one I wouldn't count as a negative towards the film, but something that annoys me - with this is the special edition. I understand Lucas wanting to go back to fix up some of the visuals but why does he have to change these stupid minor things that are so trivial. Like why is the celebration sequences extended to show Naboo & Coruscant, those weren't even things yet in 83'. Why the fuck do I see a drunk Hayden Christensen eye raping someone across the room? Like seriously Lucas don't even pretend that Christensen wasn't one the main problem of your prequel series. Other then that the movie is a fantastic conclusion of the original trilogy. The final confrontation between Luke, Vader, and the Emperor is incredibly satisfying and really everything I wanted from it. As a whole the movie isn't as good as A New Hope or Empire, it is nowhere near as fun or as enjoyable as those movies were and is without doubt the weakest of the three. The most important thing though is that it ended the original trilogy well enough and that's really the one thing it needed to do right.

The original trilogy ends with Return of the Jedi, and it was a fitting end. The whole second Death Star thing was a bit ridiculous and the Ewoks were a bit annoying, but we get to see the result of all that was set-up in the last film. Everyone's character arc ends, we see Luke face the Emperor and Vader, and we see Vader turn back from the dark-side to the light.

Pretty good Star Wars installment with a lot of variety. It gets a little boring at some points, and I'm kind of skeptical of the ending... SpoilerYou spend 18-20 years being evil and cruel, and hanging out with your bright-eyed and bushy-tailed son for a few hours is enough to completely reverse that? Not that I didn't fully expect him to stop the Emperor when he was trying to kill Luke, but still. His sudden complete turn-around was a little silly to me. But other than those things, I really like it.

Good conclusion, interesting movie but failing sometimes, as always with the Star Wars series. #Han Solo was good, the #Ewoks were good, and everything else was fine. Nothing more to say. :)
