I still have trouble beating this game the right way to fight the ACTUAL Andross.

Speed running SF64 has made me acutely aware how annoying it is that Nintendo has dragged its ass making Wii VC games available on the Wii U VC. The emulator features for Wii U VC games (save point functions) make it possible to get to a problem area in a game and just drill it over and over until you get good at it.

Personal best time on this game (Corneria>Meteo>Fichina>Sector X>Sector Z>Area 6 Route): 34:53. I've been doing "any% Real Andross" runs, whereas all the runners I've seen do any% Fake Andross, Hard Route, and 100%.

Editing … new best time: 33:35. My hands are shaking. I had a meh fight against Braindross that was taking a bit long and then I lost both wings right at the end. Boosting through the escape with no wings isn't fun, but I survived, barely x_x

StarFox 64 is still the best entry in its own series, and another of the absolute best N64 games. I particularly love the multiple paths that can be taken through the game (an aspect totally lost from the later Assault), the medals system it introduced for high scores, and the varying gameplay created through addition of the Landmaster tank and the submarine. This game more than made up for the disappointment that the cancellation of StarFox 2 had created.

For a 3D shooter, Star Fox 64 was ahead of its time. No other shooter could match the quirkiness of the characters or the epic flow of the storyline.

A good, if overrated shooter. It does lend itself to a lot of replayability though. I've never been a fan of the animal characters.

Been trying my luck at seeing how quickly I can beat this. For personal reference, my first time and the time to beat is 43m47s. Made a few mistakes, taking a long time on Andross, getting grabbed twice and losing both wings, which then caused me to die in the escape. I went the all-Hard route since I'm comfortable with that, not sure if I should try a different path for finishing quicker (Fichina -> Sector X -> Sector Z -> Area 6 -> Venom?). Easy Venom is almost certainly longer than Hard Venom. Hmmm...

This is the game I played the most in my life. I just remember how I played this game everyday when I was young and I had so much fun with it. Even after years I play it once a month just to enjoy my childhood memories I shared with this game. The levels, the smooth controls and the different endings. This game has everything.

This is rail shooting at it's finest. So many memory's playing this at friends houses. I love how there's different ways though each mission and all the character's are great. Peppy's the old veteran, Falco is a dick, Slippy a fucking wuss, bill is a stoned 90's guy, Star Wolf is a badass. I wish Nintendo would make a proper sequel.
