I didn't see enough boobs and tits, Husky. Just kidding, I know what this game is. Ben Croshaw told me beforehand. It's about...feeling so freaking guilty.

Editing … ...I mean, I was just wondering how a Spec Ops game managed to gain all this critical acclaim. Then I played it and I was like, oh. Damn, life sucks. Sigh...Needs more boobs.

Editing … I probably should be more hippie because...yeah. At least EA's high prices for DLC have kept me from playing Battlefield 3 more often. But even those prices don't compare to whatever happened to Star Wars Battlefront 2: The Search for More Money.

Editing … EA's DLC practices are exactly why I haven't given any of their multiplayer titles a single chance. If your game has free to play business practices, it should be free to play.

Editing … I'm also a believer that if a free-to-play game is charging money for it (like Shadow of War) then it doesn't deserve *any* of your money, and pirating it is okay.

Yeah sure, the game is okay, but throughout all my playtime I couldn't help but stop and think about better ways to do this story. Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse. Now. exist and both beat the living shit out of this game. The story is nice, but not enough to carry the bad gameplay and bland characters. If Spec Ops: The Line is the Apocalypse. Now. of video games, I don't want to know what is The Thin Red Line of vidya.

Spec Ops: The Line is a diamond in the rough. It's one of the few military shooters with a brutally tragic narrative based around delusional soldiers in a nightmarish warzone. Sure, the gameplay is generic for a shooter. However, the difficulty ramps up at a steep pace with the horrifying storyline. Overall, The Line is one of the greatest, most emotional games in the Xbox 360/PS3 era.

It's difficult to put to words why Spec Ops: The Line is such a good game. Not because it defies description - it's actually rather easy to discuss its merits as the gold standard of mixing narrative and gameplay and why its use of themes and symbolism is so effective - but because much of what can be said about it is best said by experiencing the game first-hand. It's far from a "fun" gaming experience, but this is to the game's credit more than anything else.

This game starts off by making you believe that you're in for yet another dude-bro military shooter, what with your clean-cut, all-american "heroes" going off to shoot a bunch of brown people in the desert, but then it ends up turning into a Heart of Darkness style, scathing evisceration of dude-bro military shooters, the heroes turn out to be a bunch of unlikable bastards, and you were supposed to be HELPING the citizens of Dubai. Your character is constantly being put through hell by others, and his loosening grasp on reality causes him to spiral down into misery and destruction. It's a deliberately fatiguing and soul-crushing experience designed to make the players question the ethics of their main character, and by extension, characters similar to him.

I never got around to trying Spec Ops: The Line, but heard it was pretty amazing at communicating its intended message. Maybe I'll get back to it someday!

Editing … Definitely worth playing, mechanically the cover system could have been a bit better and the squad commands could do with some depth but they are minor issues in a great game.

Editing … Spec Ops might seem like a forgettable game on a first glance, but dedicate more than 10 mins to the game and you'll see that it's anything but forgettable. It's been exactly a year since I finished the game and I still remember every part of the game vividly. Reckon I should let @Pape Badiane do the rest of the hyping from here. :P

Editing … Very very impressive game, not one I think you DK in particular would connect to (knowing your tastes only on a second hand basis obviously, I could be wrong), but for its expertly-crafted subversive nature and sheer deconstruction of the inhumane stuff that games ask us to do and we just accept 'because a game told me to' needs saluting in my opinion

Editing … Do it! You won't regret it! Never thought, that a (on first sight) generic 3rd-person shooter would leave me speechless after finishing it. I literally sat there for an hour, unable to speak! I wish, there would be more games like this in terms of messing around psychological with your mind. Absolutely must-play game!

"Spec Ops: The Line" - yet another military shooter? Yes. And no.
If franchises like "Battlefield", "Call of Duty" or "Medal of Honor" are like Michael Bay's "Pearl Harbor" - with their gimmickry and cheap drama - "The Line" is probably the "Apocalypse Now" of war games. It has got its share of smaller issues: Similar to "Far Cry 3", some of the genre tropes do get in the way of the narrative. Also, the controls could have used some fine-tuning. Still, if you want to play a military shooter with a dark and mature and morally ambiguous plot, look no further.

This game is awesome, but only if you understands what it's trying accomplish. I don't want to spoil any of it, so I'll let discover that for yourself and if you missed the point you can always look on youtube for some more details.
Other than that gameplay-wise there is not much to be said except that it's a decent shooter.
Hurry up and go play it!
