12 minutes in. The action is SUPPOSED to make me chuckle right? The absurd amount of slow mo and cartoony blood splatters is intentionally silly right?

Dr Eggnog This is a fucking Itchy and Scratchy cartoon.

The story is phenomenal, so well told here. Love the way they talk too. Tons of blood and violence and sex, no doubt, but I love the setting and the series actually has a good, satisfying conclusion, which puts it ahead of most TV series these days. I really hope they do another series on the First Roman Triumvirate.

    Score: 9.0 (Fantastic!)

nodley Green My mate actually put me off this before I even saw it. He said "there's loads of fighting and shagging, you'll love it!" Erm, I'm in my mid 30's, not a teenager I suppose I should give it a chance one day, it seems really popular.

Bryan T It's the story though that's so good. The fighting and sex isn't the main attraction in my mind (well I do love great action scenes set in that time period; sex is whatever, could have done with less), very well-filmed too. It gets better and better too, not like the 1st season is the best and then there's a dropoff like with most other tv shows.

nodley Green I'll keep an eye out for it next time it's on TV and check it out, I must admit I do love anything about Romans and that time period.

Despite the excessive use of blood, violence and sex scenes, a great story has been told. This show is definitely not for everyone and hard to recommend but one thing is for sure: it's EPIC!
RIP Andy Whitfield, you were great as Spartacus!

    Score: 8.0 (Great!)
