A good 3-D Sonic game? What?! I was sold after playing Green Hill Zone with amazing HD graphics, and the ability to play 2D or 3D. Really well done game.

The perfect example of what a franchise celebration should be: taking everything that made the series good and polishing it to an absolute luster while acknowledging and improving upon the series' flaws. If you're not a Sonic fan, don't expect to be suddenly drawn into the series... but if you've ever enjoyed Sonic the Hedgehog, you WILL have fun with this game.

Between this and Sonic Colors, it looks like Sonic Team finally stopped sleeping on the job, although it looks like they started drinking on the job with Sonic Lost World - I haven't played it (yet), but the reviews don't look very promising.

In my opinion, Sonic Generations is the best 3D sonic. With the option to play classic or modern, with great level design in the process, this is not only a great sonic game, but a great entry point as a whole.

I was skeptical of this title at first but shortly after putting it in i fell in love. Sonic generations had finally usurped the throne sonic adventure 2 once held and came out on top as not only the greatest sonic game i've ever played but also one of the most fun platformers i've ever played. With it's solid platforming as classic sonic, high speed action as modern sonic, and all the right nostalgic comebacks Sonic Generations has earned the #7 spot on my list.

Very good game, really well done and with a nostalgic air for long time fans; nice and simple story, enough to explain the setting of events, but the real highlight is the game design, nice mixture of "old and new"; however, I don't like the "Sonic Unleashed" design on the new Sonic stages, wish they used the classic "Sonic Adventure" style.

The living representation of Sonic's highs and lows. The main levels are lots of fun and exactly how Sonic games should play. A beautiful combination of long stretches to run, meticulous platforming and branching pathways, just like the Genesis days in both the 2D and 3D levels. However, outside the main levels, the game takes a tragic turn. Each stage has extra challenges that range from horrendous to mildly entertaining, and the boss fights are among the worst in gaming history. How they ever passed quality testing, I'll never know. Also, Sonic can sometimes control a bit finicky, which is rough for a game that can require very precise timing and aim.

Sega needs to stop making Sonic games. This is as good as it's gonna get. I don't say that because I hate Sonic or anything, it's just that this game is really solid and it did wonders for the series (and Sega's by association) reputation. I don't want to see Sonic Team potentially screw up again. So, why did I like this game? Well, it provided that fast paced action that Sonic is supposedly known for, it had solid level design with very few glitchy areas (A first for a Sonic game) and it had a killer soundtrack. There are some quality remixes here. The game is also super-nice looking. Rooftop Run especially. Really, the biggest problems are the boss fights which isn't much of a surprise. Definitely the best big Sonic title in a long

I wish it didn't take them over a decade to finally do it, but Sega finally made a really good Sonic game again. The sections with old Sonic play exactly how you hoped they would, and the new Sonic sections play pretty damn well for the most part. While the levels are based on ones from older games, they didn't just rehash them in either 2d or 3d. They kept the iconic sections and general feel, but designed new levels around them. Through this, it manages to have more of its own identity than something like the New Super Mario Bros. games. On the negative side, some of the later 3d levels don't play that well, and the last couple of boss fights were annoying.
