So basically we have the good gameplay from Unleashed, but further cleaned up with smarter, more efficient stage design and better control options. Add an appropriately lighthearted script and give in to the GOOD long-time demands, and the blue blur is back on track at last. I'm very proud of Sonic Team for finally getting it to work for everybody, and proud of myself for staying hopeful over the years.

WOAHTHEREBUDDY. A really good Sonic game in this day in age? I almost don't believe you. That is, I wouldn't if I hadn't played what is now one of my favorite Sonic games. Colors does everything right with a Sonic game and hell, just a game in general. The gameplay is tight, the Wisps work extremely well as gameplay mechanics, and there's a distinctly large scope, which is usually the first sign of failure in a Sonic game ironically. But what makes Colors truly special is its soundtrack. Easily the best Sonic OST in a long time, it creates a genuine mood for each world, which is important in any multi-world title. If Sonic Colors is Sonic Team's answer to all of the criticism of the series, then it's on the right track to redemption.
