Finally finished the Sly series playthrough. I think my rating is 1>3>4>2 . Sly 4 was very easy and bland. It moved at quite a faster pace than the previous 2. The world's were pretty forgettable but The Griz was probably my favorite boss of the series. I feel like they missed a beat here, Sly 4 should've been made more difficult to cater to the older fans that had played the original trilogy. But it's just fine, probably revisit it with the niece but otherwise not much reason to go back to it.

So far so good. All my gripes come from just being burnt out on Sly at this point. I've played through the first three in the past few months and my focus is waning. Sanzaru did a great job at continuing the feel of a Sly game but with added cutscenes and the ancestors are much better than the extended gang of 2 and 3. Environments feel more vibrant and lively. Will be glad to be done with the Sly games soon though.

Editing … Really bummed this was removed from Playstation Now when they transitioned over to Playstation Plus Extra/Premium (I hate how confusing they've made it btw). I had rather wanted to finish it at some point. I miss me my platformers. Oh well, at least there's Crash 4 come Wednesday.

Editing … I didn't even finish the demo, I quit during the part you have to play as the turtle in a wheelchair. But the Sly segments weren't that good either. The enemies don't seem to pose a threat, it's like they are barely even there even if you get caught. I guess this was done to make stealth less menacing for younger players. Still bad though. Substantially bad. Like, dude, just make a game without enemies in that case!

Editing … I agree Sony really made PS+ confusing. Should've just marketed PS Now better but I still don't think the catalog of games is good enough for me. I bought Sly 4 on release back in the PS3 heyday so I still have a disc copy.

Editing … I feel like Sly as a whole is geared more towards younger players so you're not really wrong. It's certainly easy but I feel like it's a good introduction to different genres for a young kid. My 8 year old niece has been hopping in and out during my Sly playthrough and she has a lot of fun with it. I enjoy some mindless distraction platforming so it's alright for me.

This might be a weird question, but would you say #Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is more of a portable or more of a home console game? e.g. there were versions of GTA Liberty City Stories and Silent Hill Origins on both the PSP and PS2, but they're both obviously handheld games, know what I mean?

Editing … The camera/screen should be different from the original portable but isn't. The control feels weird because of the limitations of the portable. I played P4 on the Vita, and honestly it was great. The additions are interesting and it feels like it was made for the Vita. It's probably fine on PS2 too (since it came on that system first) but you'd miss some new stuff. Sly "4" is not bad on vita but there is minor and less minor bugs from what I'v heard.

Editing … For this game I would say that both versions are alright. I bought it on Vita: prettier, touch screen interesting but sometimes there's lag (the PS3 version is "lag free"). I would say that this is a bit better on Vita, for the controls but that either way you win and loose a bit

Editing … oh and you can play local coop up to 4 on PS3. And if you play with the settings, there's a way to cut the lag on Vita (I don't remember the trick though)

Editing … Origins and Liberty City Stories were both portable games to begin with, so you get pretty much the same thing on both (I'm guessing cuz I haven't played them). Thieves in Time was originally developed for PS3, so you'll be shortchanging yourself if you get the portable version. As for Persona 4, the PS2 version is better but Golden is also great and would be a good choice for a fresh second playthrough because some minor things were added.

I was surprised by this one, Sanzaru does a pretty good job recreating what made the Sly games fun even if they don't try a whole lot new. It actually improves upon Sly 3 in a couple areas, particularly the way the extra characters are implemented. If you're a fan of the series, give this a shot, it's pretty cheap.

After a extended time off, Sly and the gang finally returned with another adventure late in the PS3's life. Being developed by newcomer Sanzaru, they did a good job of smoothly translating the feel of the Sly game. Levels are bigger, the story is the most detailed in the series, and the new gameplay abilities of the ancestors are well done. It does feel like a sum of the previous games put together. However, as much as it mostly matches the bar set by Sucker Punch, it never really pushes it to new levels, resulting in a game that feels a bit too conservative, even if the design choices are understandable. Also has some minor problems with hit detection jumping. Still, it's a nice change of pace from most games these days.
