    I had two dollars on my Playstation account wallet. I had no clue what to do with such a small amount, so I just bought the Beatbox Bandits episode from Samurai Champloo. And man, I still love how the director somehow snuck in an episode with weed. Samurai, hip-hop and...yeah.

    For a road trip-styled anime, Samurai Champloo is sure fascinating. As the title implies, the show is an eclectic mashup between hip-hop music, breakdance swordfighting and classic Japanese samurai stories. It even explores the torturous past of the few Japanese Christians in the coastal areas. The final story arc is a devastating, unpredictable conclusion with some of the most incredible duels to the death.

    Samurai Champloo is a stylish, inventive, downright entertaining chronicle of three unlikely allies' (?) journey through Edo-era Japan. In particular, Mugen, a break-dancing ex-pirate, takes the cake as one of the most interesting characters I've seen in an anime series.
