Hm, it was hard to find this page again since "-" gets ignored in the search field...
Anyways, the battery is getting worse and worse. It barely lasts 45 minutes and has to be charged pretty much at all times.
I still haven't found an alternative. The Samsung YP-S3 apparently uses a 580 mAh lithium polymer battery from ATL... I wonder if I could replace it myself if I find the right kind of battery online... I do have the manufacturer's manual on my PC so I could disassemble the thing. I am way too scared though... I don't wanna destroy it with my clumsy hands :(
The death of my MP3 player would probably be the most devastating thing in my life.

3 hours at best until the MP3 player shuts down due to low battery. I wouldn't know what to do if my MP3 player died... is there an alternative to this MP3 player? Being able to choose a custom wallpaper / background is a requirement (so I can look at it while choosing songs to play). Anything else is a bonus. Would be great if the MP3 player could play video files and m4a, flac, wave files etc... any recommendations?

Editing … The furthest I get from a charging point is if I walk to the shops. At work or in the car I have power. There's even a fast charge thingy in the shopping centre here where you can plug your phone in and it charges it. One day we'll have proper wireless charging, like Nikola Tesla said.

"With the Samsung YP-S3, the battery life is 50 hours of music playback" Well, after almost 7 years of daily usage, the battery life for music playback has decreased from 50 hours to about 4 hours, lol. I'll use this fantastic MP3 player until it dies (I hope it doesn't, it would break my heart. :( ).

My all-time favorite MP3 player! I've been using it for four years and it still works! I've had a "Thomson Lyra M150" and a "Samsung YP-U3" before that one but both didn't stand a chance against the YP-S3 when it comes to the durability. The overall design is slick and the features are great. This MP3-player supports audio files (mp3, wma and sometimes ogg), video files (svi), picture files (jpg) and text files (txt, utterly useless). Playback quality is great. The YP-S3 lets you personalize the appearance by letting you choose a text font and a background. Radio playback and recording works quite well.
The software "Samsung Media Studio" didn't work in the first place so you should download the updated version called "EmoDio" to convert avi/wmv/mp4 files to svi. The MP3 player comes with a proprietary USB connector. Bottom line: The €80 I spent on this MP3 player really paid off. I'd buy it again. 9/10
