I hate, hate, HATE the tweaked controls for this Ratchet. Gone are the days of getting swarmed by enemies and doing a quick 360 with a rapid fire weapon to blast them all back. Now you can only shoot directly in front of you like in any generic third person shooter. The framerate drop from 60 to 30 fps also hurts the experience badly, and makes all the chaos that unfolds in a Ratchet game more difficult for the eyes to process.

If you can get over those two death knells for the franchise, this is still a pretty fun budget game. Mr. Zurkon has never been funnier, the raritarium weapon upgrade trees are addictive and gratifying, and the freedom you have to fly about with the jetpack while blasting enemies is quite exhilarating. The hoverboots make a welcome return, though it takes too long to unlock them, and they're less versatile than before. Overall, Into the Nexus hits the right notes for a Ratchet game but several are more muted than in earlier, stronger entries in the series.
