The original sub-title for this game was Clockblockers but they couldn't get away with it.

While I could rave about well-blended gameplay and go on for hours about Insomniac Engine 3.0, what I appreciate most out of this game is storytelling quality. On those terms, it would easily get my #1.

What could possibly make it so great? It could be the abnormally numerous FMVs that look better than some recent animated feature films, and smooth real-time visuals that blend light and shadow effects flawlessly. Or it may be the heartfelt script that conflicts familial responsibilities and brings an eternal friendship to question. It might even be Boris Salchow's cinematic soundtrack that puts everything in the right place. If none of that does it, then I'd have to point out that it has some of the greatest voice acting I have ever hear

Score: 9.0 (Fantastic!)

The first of the R&C series that I have played and I am amazed. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous and colorful, unlike the gritty brown/gray graphics of most games from the 7th generation. It takes elements from Shmups, Hack N' Slash's, Platformers, third person shooters, and even mini arcade side missions. The writing is quite good and the characters are instantly lovable, even the evil Dr.Nefarious. I was really impressed to see a game that brings back my childhood of playing Crash, Spyro, and Jak in a new flavor. I'm currently seeking out the older titles in the series because I enjoyed this one so much.

Score: 9.5 (Fantastic!)

The ending to the Ratchet & Clank Future trilogy proves to be the greatest one in the Future series, adding in new gameplay and narrative elements to keep things fresh, but never losing sight of the core platforming and shooting experience. Space travel mechanics make a great return to the series, but unfortunately lack the depth seen in Ratchet & Clank 2. The weapon selection is satisfying and varied, combining some old favourites and some new inventive designs. The story is the greatest in any Ratchet & Clank game, and is sure to provide an emotional connection to the player if they've experience the previous instalments.

Score: 9.0 (Fantastic!)
