"You know, Ellie, we really are full of Rage."

I finished it a few days ago and I don't want to stop playing. Despite the graphical flaws I loved everything about it, from the environments, to the gunplay, the variety of enemies, even the driving. I just wish it was longer. There's a lot of empty spaces and unused areas of what could have been excellent DLC, and all we'll ever get is the sewers (which there are two of them in the starting area) and The Scorchers (which takes all of one hour to beat). I can't find anyone to play the Legends mode with so I can't explore that part of the game. Overall, not a bad way to spend 20+ hours of my life.

Rage is among the very best looking games on xbox360. The thing is, all other games run at 30fps while this one does it at a buttery smooth 60fps. It scares me to think of what they will to with this engine when they lock it at 30 fps in Doom 4. Technical prowess aside, the game also has a brilliant art direction. The gameplay is tight and oldschool, and enemy animations introduce some never before seen gimmicks. I was disappointed by the vehicular combat though. I was expecting the cars to have more weight and to be able to roam everywhere without so much constraint. The second CD of the game is also terribly rushed (the content that is there is good, but the game and plot just end rather abruptly).

id software's first game in seven years. And all they manage to come up with is a reasonably entertaining shooter cluttered with half-baked racing elements, a boring not-so-open world which looks only good from afar (but heaven forbid you ever take a closer look at any texture!) and a painfully dull story that is over as soon as it starts to get interesting...?

Play this for the arguably decent FPS action - if you must. The rest's just not worth your while.
