Man, this game is long. The story gets really intense at around chapter three. The tension sure builds up as I get further in. To be honest, it reminds me of Persona, except it's in a dark, medieval Final Fantasy setting. And I'm enjoying it a lot more than I expected.

Makes me wonder if the Persona team was thinking about a similar style for Project Re:Fantasy. Kind of a hard sell to do just another fantasy game, but it sounds like Re:Fantasy has a more modern twist.

Editing … Well, the languid pacing of the intro is very similar to the long exposition of every single Persona game. Lol. It really does feel like a modern version of a old 16-bit RPG. I'm not sure how else to describe it. The style is hard to get into, because it has a lot of Final Fantasy-style graphics. Great battle system, though.

Okay, at around the Alternate History Chapter Two, the main character's mentor reveals his secret teleportation powers from The Matrix. Like geez, I didn't know that my magic White Chronicle book could do that. He might as well call me "Mr. Anderson" at this point.

Transported some rare green paint from an artist in one history timeline to the same artist in an alternative history. That's great and all, but it's missing the Time Paradox voice clip.

...Well, Mark Bussler's right. The game gets better after eight hours or so. Takes a long time for the battles to turn really challenging. So uh...it's not Radiant Silvergun.

I'd enjoy this game a lot more if I didn't feel like I was backtracking a million times. Took me a while to realize that the start button can skip looooong cutscenes. And once I discovered the skip ability, I felt really stupid. Oh well. Live and learn.

Radiant Historia feels awfully old-fashioned, but the game's creative plot reaches epic visual novel levels. Although Historia never reached huge levels of popularity, it showed off some really clever Choose Your Own Adventure-style story arcs. The high concept of the game design makes this one of those unique experiences that everyone should at least try out.

What the hell? Why does this remake have an all-out anime opening? Oh whatever. If it keeps me from falling asleep while playing this midget sprite game, I'd take it.

Editing … anime openings in RPGs are pointless since you still have to play the game afterwards, inducing a sense of disappointment, dread, a need to sleep, or all of the above. It's been a fact all the way since circa nineteen-ninety-Wilds-Arms.

Editing … Yeah the old games tend to have a lot of personality that gets sucked out and replaced with modern anime blandness, real shit. (Star Ocean 1/2 being good examples) It bugged me when this happened to Street Fighter 4, even. I mean you're on next gen consoles and you have this sweet in-gameplay art style you put all this effort in- why use anime for the story??

I actually felt really nostalgic when I watched this trailer, even though the game is not that old in the grand scheme of things. It made me realize that this really is an all-time classic game, hopefully the remake will let more people try it out.
