RPG Maker XP (RPGツクールXP) is the PC version in the RPG Maker series of programs developed and published by Enterbrain. It is the first PC version to be officially translated into English and released outside of Japan. RPG Maker XP integrates the Ruby programming language, allowing for greater flexibility of development compared to the purely command based system of its predecessors. As Ruby does not directly support graphics or audio, the Ruby Game Scripting System is included to provide an interface for these as well as basic data structures used by the editor. The program's EULA allows games to be sold. This version is the first RPG Maker since RPG Maker 95 to feature a resolution of 640×480, compared to the 320×240 resolution of RPG Maker 2000 and RPG Maker 2003. The program's resolution can be raised through the program's scripting system, though this requires modifying the RGSS.     I remember the time when my bro first installed this program. He was really keen on making an RPG. His passion was awesome (infectious and smile inducing), but at the same time he was humble and asked for my help. He said I was the creative one and that he wanted me to come up with characters and story of the game. The way he asked for my help, his sincerity and how he wanted us to make an awesome game TOGETHER really stuck with me. However, I was an asshole of a brother back then. It felt good to see him ask for my help and I kept saying ''we'll see''. Oh how I regret having that attitude...

    Eventually we did put some serious work over the summer into making the game and we had a blast, even though we just scratched the surface of making the intro and first few areas of the game. This program reminds me of the time when my bro and I set aside our competitiveness and we aligned our goals into a single one. We pushed each other in a good way and cheered one for another! This also reminds me of how big of a dick I was and I can't help but feel how I am a large part of us growing apart. I was a selfish prick and this was one of the prime examples of my attitude back in the day. And this is one of my life's biggest regrets.

    As I write this with tears flowing down my cheeks, I can only hope our relationship reaches the same heights as it once did with this game/program. Recently it has been improving, but unfortunately he's no longer interested in games. I'm sure my attitude played a big part in that. I can only hope that eventually I'll warm him up to games again and that we'll once again share the same passion.

    Sorry for this long post and all the rambling. I just felt the need to let this out. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't be a dick to others, especially not to your loved ones. You might end up regretting it in a big way...

    I liked the RPG Maker XP. The best RPG Maker is still the RPG Maker 2003 though.
